BEARS (Bayside East and Redlands Cricket Association) comprises a zone covering the Bayside region, Eastern suburbs and the Redlands district.
BEARS primary goal is to promote the game of cricket across the zone specifically catering for junior cricket from affiliated clubs and schools. Competitions will be conducted in the Under 12 to under 17 age group. BEARS is also the body responcible for the management of representative players and teams for our zone.
This is a division based competition rather than age based. Cricketers are placed in teams according to their ability not age. This means that cricketers can play in a higher age division if their ability allows. Wellington Point will not make a cricketer play in an older age team if they are not comfortable doing so.
All age groups play one & two day matches and use a Kookaburra Red King 156g (Under 12s and 13s use a 142g) cricket ball. The BEARS Competition is played between the 10 Clubs that make up the Eastern Districts and the Redland Districts. All matches are played on a Saturday morning between 8am and 11.30am.
