Wellington Point Cricket Club (WPCC) has been established since 1895, and has maintained its position as a premier cricket club for juniors, seniors and masters with nearly over 200 registered players in recent years.
The club also sponsors a healthy Cricket Blast beginners program designed to introduce younger children (under 10 years) to the game of cricket. Located beside Moreton Bay with its cooling afternoon sea breezes, WPCC has attracted many players from outside the district and has won more than its fair share of premierships. Most notable player to come through the club in recent years is Clinton Perrin, who has gone on to play for the Queensland Bulls.
In 1999, WPCC relocated to Mooroondu Road in Thorneside to become affiliates of the Mooroondu Sports & Recreation Club. At this location the Club has direct access to a modern clubhouse, a first-class turf wicket, a synthetic wicket, and four practice nets. Training facilities are continually upgraded to meet the changing needs of our cricketers. WPCC continues to improve its reputation, with new equipment to maintain the turf wicket to A-grade quality, with more qualified coaches and cricket gear, and with more social activities to allow all players and their families to feel welcome and to feel a part of our club.
